Early childhood intervention (ECI) awareness week is celebrated around Australia during the third week in August. It aims to promote the importance of early childhood intervention and the services supporting ECI in the community.
ECI awareness week was celebrated in Dubbo through a collaborative community event organized by Orana Early Childhood Intervention, Northcott, Uniting and Dubbo Community Health. The “Kites for Kids” event has been running annually in the community for many years. The children and their families enjoyed creating, decorating and flying kites and a larger number of participants have joined each year. It was a great opportunity for children, families, educators and the wider community to come together and enjoy a fun day in the heart of their city.
Including children with disability and developmental delay and their families in community life helps build more inclusive and diverse communities. It also maximises children’s opportunities to practice buy premarin cheap functional skills in everyday environments and actively participate in the community as all the other children. It enriches community life for everyone and also helps break down barriers and promote better understanding and attitudinal change.
Below we have listed some upcoming events you can take advantage of to raise awareness about inclusion and the rights of all children in the community:
- Disability Awareness Week 2016 will be held 27 November to 3 December, and includes the United Nations sanctioned International Day of People with Disability, held each year on 3 December.
- Children’s Week is an annual event celebrated in Australia held around the fourth Wednesday in October (22 – 30 October 2016).
- Early childhood intervention awareness week is celebrated in Australia annually, during the third week in August.
